The annual Canberra Day Appeal aims to raise much-needed funds for local charities and organisations that assist those in the Canberra community.
This year, Look Good Feel Better is taking part in the hope of raising $10,000 for our monthly workshops at Canberra Southern Cross club.
And in fantastic news, every donation up to a total of $5,000 will be matched thanks to the support of Hands Across Canberra.

February 4 is World Cancer Day and we want to recognise all who have shared the life-changing experience of a cancer diagnosis. We recognise the health care professionals and caregivers who selflessly support those going through treatment. And we recognise the cancer support services across the globe that assist cancer patients, and help 'Close The Care Gap' by offering vital knowledge and resources during the treatment experience.
Look Good Feel Better is the only global cancer support charity that addresses the universal experience of cancer treatment through free, supportive workshops and resources. Since our inception we have reached, connected with, and empowered over 2 million cancer patients in 27 countries around the world. Together, with the generous commitment of more than 7,800 trained volunteers, we annually offer over 7,000 free workshops across six continents - empowering women, men and teens undergoing cancer treatment to feel like themselves again.
The cancer experience is universal and Look Good Feel Better is there - in-person and online - to support cancer patients across the globe, no matter who they are, where they live, or what form of cancer they’re diagnosed with.

In an historic appointment for the Cancer Patients Foundation, Senior Staff Specialist and Medical Oncologist Dr Rachel Dear has accepted a position on the charity’s Board of Directors.
The Cancer Patients Foundation has been running the national Look Good Feel Better program for 32 years, aiming to reduce the physical, psychological, and social impact of cancer treatment and helping to empower and build confidence in the patients who participate.
Dr Dear has long been an advocate of the program, saying “Specialising in the diagnosis and management of breast cancer I treat my patients holistically, not only managing their breast cancer with the best evidence-based drug treatment but also supporting their psychological and social needs. I have been referring my patients to the Look Good Feel Better program for 16 years and universally they tell me what a positive difference it makes to their self-esteem and confidence while they are going through cancer treatment.”
A 2021 Look Good Feel Better participant survey showed 92% of participants agreed that their appearance makes them feel confident, yet only 43% felt confident before attending a Look Good Feel Better workshop. After attending, this number more than doubled with 90% of participants saying they felt somewhat to very confident in their appearance, and 99% of respondents agreeing they would recommend a Look Good Feel Better workshop to other women with cancer.
The program has been designed to ensure Australian women, men and teens undergoing treatment for any type of cancer can receive the practical and emotional support that is so important in confidently navigating a cancer diagnosis and treatment. Through face-to-face workshops on skincare, make-up and headwear the program assists with the management of appearance-related side effects of treatment, while a range of virtual workshop topics address practical strategies to improve energy, mobility, nutritional health, and mental wellbeing. A Home-Delivered Confidence Kit service is also offered for those who are unable to participate in the workshops for health, travel, or personal reasons.
On her appointment to the Board, Dr Dear said, “Look Good Feel Better provides essential support for people undergoing cancer treatment and eases the burden on Health Professionals and the health system through the provision of their services. I firmly believe all patients should have the opportunity to access the resources they offer to manage the side effects of treatment and look forward to using my position on the Board of Directors to improve access and uptake to the program.”
In exciting news, our South Australian volunteer Kathy Rutledge is one of three finalists in Tea Tree Plaza Westfield's Local Heroes awards and recognition program.
Kathy was nominated for making a positive impact to her local community through her 13 years of volunteering with the Look Good Feel Better program.
As a finalist, Kathy receives a $5,000 grant for Look Good Feel Better but there is the opportunity for her to be awarded a $20,000 grant as the winner, so we would LOVE your help.
Visit the voting portal before 22nd August to vote for Kathy, and be sure to spread the word amongst your friends and family too!
The grant will allow us to support 200 cancer patients across nine venues in the Adelaide region, so your help in securing the funding would be greatly appreciated.
For nearly a century, Revlon has been a brand of firsts – a brand to both empower and support women.
In another first, Revlon has recently announced Delta Goodrem as the brand’s first Australian brand ambassador, joining a global cast of dynamic, strong and fearless women who embody the power of being bold and living fully, freely and with purpose.
As a leading lip brand in both Australia and New Zealand, Revlon is joining forces with the Delta Goodrem Foundation on a purpose-led campaign to celebrate International Lipstick Day on July 29, 2022 in support of Look Good Feel Better - the brand’s long-standing charity partner.
Revlon General Manager, Kaitlin Rady, said: “I’m very proud of the partnership between Revlon, the Delta Goodrem Foundation and Chemist Warehouse to support and raise awareness for Look Good Feel Better, who provide invaluable, practical skills and knowledge to manage appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. Knowing that we have helped in a small way to empower women to feel more like themselves, and hopefully face the day with a little more confidence is very humbling.”
Goodrem added: “I want the Foundation to be a source of kindness, hope and compassion for people with a mission to create meaningful change. To achieve these goals the Delta Goodrem Foundation centres its focus on inspiring programming, direct support for meaningful initiatives and forming authentic partnerships to accelerate change, which is incredibly aligned to the work of Look Good Feel Better.”
Carol Kavurma, General Manager of Look Good Feel Better, said: “Our decades-long partnership with Revlon has ensured many thousands of cancer patients across the country have had access to our confidence-boosting program, as well as the delight of receiving Revloncosmetics in their Confidence Kits. We’re thrilled to be partnered with Revlon and the Delta Goodrem Foundation for this campaign, helping to further empower and support our program participants.”
To get involved, buy any Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Chemist Warehouse between July 7 and August 3 and $2 from every purchase will be donated to Look Good Feel Better.
Beauty expert extraordinaire and Look Good Feel Better Ambassador Leigh Campbell has decided to take on the Dry July challenge to help to make a difficult time a little easier for people affected by cancer.
On deciding to take part she said, "I attended my first Look Good Feel Better workshop in 2013 and couldn’t believe the transformation such a simple premise was able to provide those who attended and how grateful they were for our support. For 32 years the program has been empowering those undergoing cancer treatment by providing practical skills and knowledge to help them navigate the physical, mental and emotional side-effects of cancer treatment. Now as a proud Ambassador, I’m taking on the Dry July challenge knowing that my month without alcohol could make a lifetime of difference for someone else."
Since 2015, the Dry July Foundation has contributed $1.7 million dollars in funding to the Look Good Feel Better program, with $686,000 of this total being raised by individuals taking part throughout July.
This has allowed us to help over 22,000 Australians undergoing cancer treatment.
With one Face-to-Face Workshop supporting 10 cancer patients costing over $1,000 to run, and providing one cancer patient with a Home-Delivered Confidence Kit and access to our Virtual Workshops costing over $100, this year we're hoping to achieve our goal of $200,000 raised to provide the program to 2,000 cancer patients over the next 12 months.
To contribute to Leigh's fundraising efforts and to help her reach her target of $10,000 towards supporting cancer patients through the Look Good Feel Better program, visit her Dry July page today.
To celebrate International Women’s Day in March this year, Nutrimetics incentivised their consults to sell limited edition ‘Care Packs’ by offering a $25 product donation to Look Good Feel Better for every pack sold.
Proving the Nutrimetics community is committed to helping others, the team sold 4,300 packs, resulting in a product donation valued at $107, 500.
The products are now being included in our Confidence Kits for program participants, and we are so grateful to Nutrimetics for their ongoing support.

Three years after first experiencing the Look Good Feel Better program, Eleanor Pendleton has been announced as an Ambassador.
As founder and editor-in-chief of Gritty Pretty — Australia's leading beauty website and digital magazine - and a multi-award winning beauty and health journalist, Eleanor is a trusted voice on all things beauty.
After attending a Look Good Feel Better workshop in 2018 and being immediately taken by the impact the program has on its participants - both short and long-term - Eleanor was humbled to take on the important role, advocating for support of the program and building awareness for the benefit of Australians undergoing cancer treatment.
"I've seen first-hand just how powerful, transformative and self-esteem boosting beauty can be for cancer patients – the power of a brow pencil, a red lipstick or a groomed wig can quite literally change how a woman feels when they've had a hard round of treatment or are processing their diagnosis. It's my honour to support Look Good Feel Better and the work that they do."
