Congratulations to our former Chairman of the Cancer Patients Foundation Board, David Blakeley, on being awarded the Order of Australia Medal (OAM).
True to his character, David sees this recognition as belonging to the Look Good Feel Better volunteers, dedicated team and board members, and thousands of Australians supported through cancer treatment during his 17 year tenure.
Across a 40-year career in the cosmetic industry, including 21 years as Managing Director of Chanel Australia & New Zealand, his leadership created lasting impact, not only in business but through meaningful charitable support. His role awarded him the opportunity to give back through championing Look Good Feel Better, supporting Kids First, and enabling significant contributions, such as Chanel’s donation to the Australian Red Cross Bushfire Appeal.
This OAM recognises a career defined not only by professional excellence, but by purpose, collaboration, and compassion. Congratulations on this richly deserved honour and an achievement that has touched so many lives.
We’re filled with pride as we celebrate a milestone we couldn’t have imagined when we were founded 35 years ago - 200,000 patients helped.
The 200,000 isn't just an impressive number. It represents the individuals helped through the Look Good Feel Better program, the flow-on positive impact to countless family members, friends and colleagues, and a reminder of why our work matters.
This achievement belongs to the people we have supported, who have trusted us and who have shaped the program to be what it is today, our incredibly dedicated volunteers past and present, the cosmetics industry, our generous supporters, and everyone who believes in our vision of improving the well-being and confidence of people undergoing treatment for cancer.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us reach this moment. Your kindness, compassion, and belief in our work has made a genuine difference.

On Thursday 21 August 2025, Look Good Feel Better's Ambassador Leigh Campbell hosted her second charity mixer with the support of her wonderful friends Amy Gerard and Tegan Natoli, raising an impressive $44,000 to support individuals undergoing cancer treatment.
Leigh, who took on the Ambassador role at Look Good Feel Better in 2022, has been a passionate advocate for the charity since her first introduction to the program in 2003. Through her extensive media work, partnerships, and her ability to unite her community, Leigh has helped raise awareness and vital funds for Look Good Feel Better; a program dedicated to empowering people with cancer and improving their confidence and well-being.
Leigh was very passionate about bringing this event to life and shared "Now in its second year, Leigh's Charity Mixer was a fantastic night of fun and fundraising. Thanks to the support of the sponsors and attendees we raised $44,000, which is 45% more than the inaugural event!
This enables 440 people going through cancer treatment to access and participate in Look Good Feel Better's free workshops nation-wide. I'm so proud of all involved and can't wait to raise even more for this incredible charity next year so Look Good Feel Better can continue to improve the lives of those who need the support"
The charity mixer, held at The Rawson in The Rocks, saw 200 guests in attendance for a joy-filled evening of entertainment, connection, and of course fundraising. Guests enjoyed a signature Belena Spritz cocktail and Belena wines from Calabria Family Wines as well as beverages from Remedy Drinks, while indulging in delicious canapés from The Rawson kitchen.
The event was made possible thanks to the generous support of Nude by Nature, Vanessa Megan Skincare and Vida Glow. Celebrity Makeup Artist and Nude by Nature ambassador Max May shared his beauty expertise during a panel discussion, joined by Vanessa Gray Lyndon, founder of Vanessa Megan Skincare, and Lauren Dewsbury, Senior Research Scientist at Vida Glow. Together, they explored the topic of “Beauty and Wellness from the Inside Out.”
Other businesses and partners who contributed to the event’s success include GHD Hair, Calabria Family Wines, Summi Summi, Billini, Vestirsi, Zoe Olivia Jewellery, Three Warriors, Dermal Therapy, Avène, SHA PR, Lively Shift, Look Print, DJ Gigi Rose, Remedy Drinks, Fleur My Darling, Halo 360 and photographer Maree Turk.
Leigh and the Look Good Feel Better team are deeply grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to raising critical funds, ensuring the Look Good Feel Better program can continue to provide its services free of charge to all who are undergoing cancer treatment across Australia.

May 2025 marked a remarkable milestone in Australian healthcare and community support - 35 years since the very first Look Good Feel Better workshop was held at Westmead Hospital in Sydney in 1990.
What began as a single workshop supporting 121 women in its first year has grown into a nationwide program helping over 10,000 Australians each year, including women, men, and young adults undergoing treatment for any type of cancer. Through in-person workshops, virtual workshops, and Home-Delivered Confidence Kits, the program has now supported more than 190,000 people across the country.
Reflecting on the program’s history, Carol Kavurma, General Manager of the Cancer Patients Foundation and the Look Good Feel Better program said, “We are so grateful to Westmead Hospital for believing in our vision 35 years ago. The strong and enduring partnership we’ve built has ensured that people in the local community not only receive world-class medical treatment but also gain access to practical tools and emotional support to help them feel empowered both physically and psychologically throughout their cancer experience. Now more than ever it is recognised that holistic patient care is a vital pathway to healing and Westmead Hospital led the way 35 years ago by seeing the value in our service-offering and helping us grow the service to what it is to all people Australia-wide today.”
At Westmead, workshops are led by trained volunteers and cover skincare techniques to manage treatment-related side effects like dryness and sun sensitivity, makeup tips for concealing skin discoloration and recreating eyebrows, and headwear advice including scarf styling and wig selection and care.
Each participant receives a Confidence Kit filled with skincare and cosmetic products, used throughout the session and beyond. More than just beauty tips, the workshops foster meaningful connections among participants, creating a network of shared support, encouragement, and friendships to help to relieve feelings of isolation and loneliness often associated with a diagnosis.
Western Sydney Local Health District medical oncologist and cancer services network director Professor Paul Harnett said, “Westmead Hospital is proud to be a pioneering partner of a program which has improved the lives of thousands of Australians.
“Healthcare is about so much more than just treating the symptoms. Westmead’s long-standing partnership with Look Good Feel Better exemplifies Western Sydney Local Health District’s commitment to holistic health, and supporting patients through every step of their journey.”
As Look Good Feel Better celebrates this 35-year milestone, the partnership with Westmead Hospital stands as a testament to the power of community, compassion, and genuine care.
To celebrate, the atrium of the Crown Princess Mary Cancer Centre was filled with laughter and tears on Wednesday 21 May, as Look Good Feel Better and Westmead Hospital staff and volunteers - past and present - gathered together. It was an honour to have Julie Carriol, program Founder in attendance, along with Look Good Feel Better's Patron Kerri-Anne Kennerley.
It was a particular joy to welcome Vicky Cawood, Deputy Director of Radiation Therapy, who attended Look Good Feel Better's very first workshop as part of the nursing team back in 1990!
