Feel Better Month

Feel Better Month runs throughout September and encourages all Australians to acknowledge the importance of self-confidence and a positive mindset, in support of the thousands of cancer patients who will benefit from the Look Good Feel Better program this year.

If you’re a cancer patient, we have a jam-packed schedule of free online workshops and tutorials planned for you!  And for those of you in our community of supporters, we would love your help in raising awareness and funds to ensure that all Australians undergoing treatment for cancer can benefit from the Look Good Feel Better program, free-of-charge.

Here’s how you can get involved in Feel Better Month throughout September:

For Patients

Feel Better, online!

In addition to face-to-face workshops and regular women’s, men’s and teens Virtual Workshops on skincare, cosmetics and headwear, a range of free Virtual Workshops focusing on overall health and wellness will be running throughout Feel Better Month. Experts in their fields will be hosting the sessions, covering topics such as meditation, art therapy, healthy cooking (with celebrity chef 'Fast Ed'), exercise, yoga and lymphatic massage.

Quick and easy tutorials will be also offered on Facebook Live throughout the month, focusing on some of the most commonly requested topics relating to the side effects of cancer treatment. Special guests - including beauty guru Eleanor Pendleton - will discuss changes to the skin, skin care, nail care, scarf styling, make-up selection, product hygiene and a range of other topics.

Check out the full schedule for the month below, noting that all times are AEST / 'Sydney' time. To secure your place in a workshop, visit our workshop registration page and sign up for the Facebook Live tutorials by following @LGFBAustralia on Facebook

Enjoy some pampering

Biologique Recherche will be donating 10% from all orders of Lotion P50 in September to Look Good Feel Better. Hailed as a 'facial in a bottle' Lotion P50 gently exfoliates the skin with a combination of AHA’s, BHA’s and PHA’s whilst also harnessing the benefits of powerful botanical, mineral and vitamin extracts.

Biologique Recherche will also be donating 10% from every Wellness for Cancer treatment booked during September. The facial and body treatments are specifically adapted to the needs of cancer patients, and those in remission. The most suitable products are selected following a rigorous protocol co-developed with Wellness for Cancer.

Get creative

Why not get creative and hold your own fundraising activity in support of Look Good Feel Better any time throughout the month?

Take a look at our fundraising guide to get some ideas, and register your event here.

Give a gift in celebration

If you are celebrating a special occasion in September, asking your family and friends for a donation to Look Good Feel Better rather than a gift is a remarkable way to make a difference.

Your generosity will allow more Australians to participate in the Look Good Feel Better program, helping them face their cancer diagnosis with confidence – an extra-special cause for celebration!

You can choose to create a fundraising page to share with friends and family (and select Cancer Patients Foundation Limited as your charity), or simply make a one-off donation by visiting our donation page.

The Lipstick Effect: join the social media call-to-action

The Lipstick Effect was identified by researchers from Harvard Medical School and the University of Chieti, Italy as a common psychological phenomenon that boosts the confidence of a woman when she wears makeup and feels physically more attractive. It helps women have feelings of increased self-esteem, stronger personality, and attitude.

This September, embrace The Lipstick Effect on social media with a post spreading awareness of the Look Good Feel Better program, and its ability to boost the confidence of those undergoing treatment for cancer. Take a selfie wearing your favourite lipstick or lip gloss, tag a friend or family member who helps you ‘Feel Better’ and more confident, and share using @lgfbaustralia and #FeelBetterMonth2022.

For added support, select a lipstick available from David Jones or Myer and mention their $1 donation for every lipstick or lip gloss sold during Feel Better Month.

As an independent not-for-profit organisation, not affiliated with any other cancer charity or support service, and with no government funding, it is your generosity that allows us to provide our program free-of-charge to cancer patients across the country.
