After a two-year hiatus, we were thrilled to finally be able to come together on Friday 13 May at The Star Event Centre in Sydney for Dream Ball 2022. Our sincere gratitude goes to all who contributed towards making the event the best yet.
Thanks to our supporters in the cosmetic and fragrance industries, our important partners in retailing, media, publishing, and supply, and other members of our community, a phenomenal $355,500 was raised.
This means 3,555 Australians can now benefit from the Look Good Feel Better program over the coming 12 months.
And in some truly wonderful news, the lucky winner of the stunning watch kindly donated by Kennedy as the first prize in the raffle was a very deserving participant of our program.
Dee from Victoria was shocked to receive the winning message on the night of Dream Ball, and shared the following with us when we spoke to her afterwards:
“I heard about the amazing Look Good Feel Better program through the wonderful team of nurses where I have been receiving treatment. They spoke so highly of the program and how great the workshops are.
This last year of treatment has been the toughest - emotionally and physically. It’s my third year of chemotherapy and it doesn’t look like it will end any time soon. At the beginning of last year, I had been told that my cancer had spread and I am now stage 4 - terminal. I lost all my hair, eyebrows and eyelashes within weeks of receiving my most recent treatment. Along with that went my confidence.
I felt I had been stripped of everything including my identity. It’s difficult to describe it but my looks have changed - including my skin tone and my features. It’s aged me. My make-up and the way I apply it no longer suits those changes, so I contacted Look Good Feel Better to request a Home-Delivered Confidence Kit and register for a workshop. It’s so important to me to feel confident about my looks again and gain a sense of normality. It’s also very important to me to look and feel good for my partner.
I wanted to support such a worthy program and give back in a way that I was able to, so I purchased three tickets in the Dream Ball raffle. I actually didn’t believe it when I got the text message late on Friday night to say I’d won first prize. I thought it was an error! My partner, Matthew and I would have clicked on the link to the page showing the gorgeous watch at least 50 times. We were like kids, jumping up and down on the bed - seriously! I still have the biggest smile on my face and I couldn’t begin to tell you how overwhelmed I felt and still feel about winning. I’m so excited.
Thank you so, so much from the bottom of my heart to Look Good Feel Better and to Kennedy for the stunning Cartier diamond watch, and for adding some sparkle to my life!”
We are so thrilled for Dee, and so grateful to all in our community for your commitment to helping Australians face cancer with confidence. Special thanks goes to our generous donors and contributors, listed below.
