“I had heard from the nurses at the hospital and through friends that the Look Good Feel Better workshop was a great thing to do. I thought it seemed like a positive thing that I could do and an excuse to take myself into the city for a day and to meet other people like me with cancer.

I liked learning about the types of sun protection as it is a high priority for me right now with my post-chemo skin. I also learnt new eye make-up techniques, which look really good compared to the way I used to do them! The tip around wearing earrings to create volume led to me being more adventurous in wearing big, bold earrings.

I applied the skills I learnt for my partner’s birthday and I felt really confident and feminine – I didn’t feel like an ugly duckling and the physical effects of cancer feel like less of an issue.” Alex, LGFB participant

You can help cancer patients like Alex experience a confidence building Look Good Feel Better workshop by signing up to the Dry July Challenge and helping us raise $100,000 to fund 100 workshops in communities around Australia.

Dry July is more than just giving up alcohol. By going Dry this July, you have the chance to raise important funds for Look Good Feel Better, so don’t be nervous about asking people for donations.

Going alcohol-free also has great personal health benefits, those who joined our campaign last year reported having more energy, sleeping better, losing weight and generally feeling healthier. And of course, no hangovers!

We urge you to take up the challenge and dare others to give up alcohol for the month of July to help provide workshops to cancer patients across Australia.

Without any government funding, we rely on the generosity of the community to help us continue our work. So please join our Dry July Challenge today and make a difference to cancer patients right around the country.
